Hiring Veterans Act, C-27

How does it work?

I am finishing my last year of college and want to work  for the  federal government.

Will I be directed by my Vocational Rehab team what careers are available in my field of study  in the federal government?

Not 100% sure how it all works and I don't want to lose my chance to gain employment that will be suitable and gainful.

I am thankful for the help and I know of a couple of others in the same boots as me.  Having priority hiring is a great incentive to finish my studies and move on.
Persistency and Pressure, continue moving forward for progress! We are in this together.

So is there any rumors about the other recommendations from the HoC report that are still outstanding? They still haven't done anything to increase the Lump Sum Award, or improve the ELB benefit.

The PIA and Reserve's re-write. I posted that info in the Notice thread earlier tonight.

So what is left, for those at home keeping score, the RISB, CIB and Widow's Benefit under the NVC.

Message from the Minister

Post by Teentitan on Wed 01 Apr 2015, 22:01

Thank you for your continued support and assistance as we implement Phase II of our Government’s response to the Standing Committee Report on the New Veterans Charter. I am pleased to inform you that today, April 1st, 2015, our Government has fully implemented 2 of the 5 announcements made in recent weeks. While 40% of these new commitments have been implemented by regulatory change today, we remain committed to implementing the rest as quickly as possible. I will continue to provide you with periodic updates as major developments occur.

Lastly, I would also draw your attention to the fact that the Hiring Veterans Act, C-27, received Royal Asset today. We look forward to providing injured Veterans with priority access to Federal Government positions as quickly as possible this summer as this important legislation comes into force.
