Congratulations Hab2013. You have to call VA and ask them to remove the tax amount that you want removed.

I just got approved for PIA and received my first deposit , I noticed that no tax was removed , my question is : do I have to call VA and ask them to removed the tax or is it tax free?

Thanks guys, so mine is not outside the norm. I just thought that since there was no new evidence required, it would be relatively quick decision.

@bigrex

I applied for PIA January 20, 2016 and was approved on May 16, 2016.

I too was told of a backlog of applications, but not just for PIA, it was for all types of benefits.

I didn't request it, but when I called at the 13 week mark to inquire about my application status, the front-line worker "red flagged" it for quicker action.

Pinger, can you tell me how long it took them to process your application? I was told that it's supposed to be within 12 weeks, But right now, I'm going on 14 weeks from the date they put the reassessment application in the system, and 18 weeks since I dropped the paperwork off at my local VAC office. They say there is a backlog, but I'm having a hard time believing that there are that many PIA applications happening at the same time.

Congratulations Pinger, but don't forget to squirrel some of that away for when you do your taxes, then enjoy the rest.

And yes, meds can play many tricks to say the least.
