The pia thread under sisip has a tie in, but I post my relevant thought here.

Some gray areas that can be mind-boggling to some of us, let alone to VAC and their TOD's interpretation.

I should not comment on this overweight veteran though.
Benefit of doubt? I just don't know, heck maybe he was predisposed.

I'll always remember this First Nations eskimo stoker.
Really nice guy, but very bad b.o. and hygiene. Always eating sugar and chocolate bars. 8 mess threw him in the showers more than once.
He wasn't overweight but maybe he's got a dental disability pension
now. Who knows, his teeth were half rotted in the 80's.

Not a comparison at all, but I'm reminded of what was not deemed
a consequence by DVA or our southern neighbours in the 70's 80's.
Certain chemicals, ptsd anyone?

And what was ptsd labelled as 100 years ago today? Probably the same
label as 500 years ago. But somewhat better understood today... without
the age old consequences...  JMO

For all we know the guy only got a 1/5 award. Yes, technically it would still be considered successful, but just barely.

This is just a bit of a touchy subject for me right now, because VAC used my weight gain as the reason to deny my lymphodema disability claim, and after 12 years of having painful swollen legs, I have developed even more painful leg ulcers, that haven't allowed me to have a decent sleep in 2 months. Draining probably close to a litre of fluid per day, and after spending almost 12 hours in Emerg last night, because some have gotten infected, I'm stuck sitting at home, for the next several weeks, with an IV sticking out of my forearm, waiting for a VoN staff to come in twice a day. Once to inject me with antibiotics, and another to change all my dressings.

Rex so sorry to hear about the problems with your legs. Infections are a bitch so please keep ontop of them wouldn't want to see it get worse. Glad the VoN is coming in to take care of you.
