the problem is for the most part the are trying to put a political fix not a real to problems that were not created by the NVC as a whole but the buyout contained within .

their is only one REAL fix for the buyout and a political fix on this issue is easily seen as BS .

SOOO a whole bunch of political fixes with a lot of complicated math and hard to understand qualifiers seem to be their solutions SO FAR .

with these committees and such they can say stuff like " after consulting with vets orgs " to the crap they come up with giving it some validity to civies .

Yup, It won't end for a very looong time. It almost makes sense to me in one way.
Think about it. Before and after 1990 esp. after 90... The Gulf, Yugoslav, Afghan, and Iraq.
Add the “living” monkey wrench called the NVC and what do you get?
Reviews, debates, and extra committees.

But why can't the GoC/VAC kneejerk and implement a positive fix quicker?
Their supposed to be pro's at it. NOT!

So if it won't end for a long time, my consolation is that I don't expect anything.
Just hate those dancing carrots in MVA minstrel shows though...

I think as long as the NVC exist there will be studies and reviews.

I personally do not care for the NVC although it does bring some good benefits , it categorizes disable Veterans to the point where there's no real end to the improvements that are constantly needed to protect it's so called merits.
This is why no matter what is being looked at or improved within the New Charter , it's and everlasting attempt to address all the different issues that comes from it's very existence.
Which of course bares the burden of constantly studying and reviewing it by those trying to find solutions to address the Charter piece by piece.

Like I have said many times before , the Liberals should have made their first and only priority to bring back the pension act as it was pre 2006.

After that is done then they can study and review for all of eternity , at least the one Veteran and one Standard would be back in place , and the whole of disabled Veterans would all be in a much better way.

It is so sad that we seem to be posed for more studies, more working groups, more reviews of what/how we can treat veterans with PTSD and other medical conditions. My question is why? Why are we the veterans that are so desperately in need of help now and for many in need of help for years having to wait some more. Why can't a decision be made to do what ever the medical professionals deem necessary to deal with our illness now be made while at the same time they (the politicians) can study the hell out of things! Why risk more suiciedes, more families being torn apart while they study what we need. For me it has been over 20 years of debate, I just want some QoL and to have my doctors determine the best care for me not the GOC.

Here we go....McCrimmon is a ret'd Col and she should know that vets want the mandate public.

They just are not getting the point that mandate's are the same as ROE's when we were sent on deployment.

House Question Period

Post by Guest on Fri 22 Apr 2016, 14:18

Most shamelessly evasive answer

Conservative MP Alupa Clarke asked what the mandates are for six new advisory groups for veterans affairs announced last week.

Karen McCrimmon, parliamentary secretary to the minister of Veterans Affairs, replied it’s an excellent question, and that they’ll sit down with all six of those groups.

“The minister of Veterans Affairs really wants to find out what the issues are for veterans,” she said.

Clarke responded that’s good, but why weren’t the mandates made public?

McCrimmon said the government has large to-do list on the veterans file.

“We need to talk to all these different groups of people and prioritize all this work that needs to be done.”

The thing is, DND must have already been in the process of replacing the NDI 75 with the new CF one discount card, since it was announced so shortly after the Liberal took power. But yet the Tories had the Audacity to use it as a campaign promise, because they knew that they had to promise Veterans something, if they wanted any sort of chance at our vote.

They are probably still feeling pretty good. After all, even though the biggest Liberal promise has yet to be fulfilled, they have at least started the process for some of them. Which is more than we could have ever expected from the Tories, while under Harper. We could be sitting around wondering what the new ID card, that the Tories promised us, would look like. Instead we are discussing what calculations the liberals are possibly going to use, while putting more money into our pockets.

What our Minister is saying is that they are appeal processes in place to deal with Mr. Brentnall's situation.

He would not commit publicly in saying that he himself , would step in.

With regards to the other question on mental health and suicide prevention , well lets just say he lost me there.

Slaket...Excellent observation on our MVA not answering the questions...Excellent observations as well by all in the responses an opinions by all of the members who have responded on this today...I enjoyed reading all of the comments.
One would think this would have been the perfect opportunity for our MVA to show all that his got a firm grip on our file by naming an mentioning all of the promises , promised.
I think just like a lot of others in that he needs to be more transparent in the answers he gives...be it in the house...in the news...or any public venue.
His answers given are repetitious to the fact of stating things that are already well known...we know that it's been said time an time again that they are working very hard on our file...an yes to his defense some info with broad timelines have been given in the past but limited info at best.
I think what he needs to do is to come out publicly an give a formal update on the progress of each of the promises , promised.
This in my opinion would put a lot of minds at ease in us knowing firstly..where we stand on each promise , promised , an secondly would show some competence in our MVA by truly being transparent an would truly show that he indeed is going to get this done.

Questions that he did not answer , 1. Cuts to benefits.
                                                       2. Homelessness.
                                                       3. Report on Veterans treatment still missing in action.

The odds of having independent vets at the table are very slim. Why? Well the bureaucrats and politico's can't play the divide and conquer game. I've seen them do it.

They will decide to make "workgroups" to get different approaches/ideas on an issue. Here's the problem it's old vets in one group, young educated vets in another and guess which group gets their opinions heard/discussed the most? The older group. Why? They are controlable.

Want to freak out the old vets? Stand up and demand the agenda set by VAC is thrown out and have the vet orgs come up with one point to discuss.

The old vets literally freak out and demand a vote to have said veteran removed from the meeting or they will get up and leave.

So the vet that made the motion to remove the agenda looks at those vets and casually says "See ya' later". Whoa all hell breaks loose and the VAC bureaucrats are sitting there smiling because they have now pitted the orgs against each other.

Better then a 3 ring circus at times.

Teen...I agree!!

There are far to many groups that are included in these talks and reality is their first concern is their own agenda... We almost need what one might call a Veteran Union.. One body that talks for all Veterans..It takes the main issues expressed by its members and in representation, the union negotiates with the GoC...it could run non-profit with business/public donations and maybe a small yearly fee..$20-30. I don't know exactly but where there is a will...

One voice..and I don't mean the Legion!!..who in my eyes, back in 06 was one of the major Judas when it comes to the New Age Veteran..

As it is now to many fingers in the pie only leads to small portions for those involved..One hand comes back with a larger and more appreciated portion by all...
