Has anyone used the $200 SISIP minor disbursment grant?

Post by Paranoidandroid on Sat 14 May 2016, 22:07

I am in need of some vehicle maintenance and short on cash and noticed the $200 mdg. I am aware that it is a one time thing and wondering if anyone has used this. I understand that I would apply through a helping agent such as the Chaplain, Social Work Officer, Family Resource Centre or the local SISIP Financial Counselor. I am just wondering if it is a difficult process that would involve credit checks, loads of paperwork, etc. in order to get approved.
What about the Sisip self improvement loan. I was looking at this to pay off credit card debt. Would I have to go through the wringer to be approved for this? I feel it would be a good way to get rid of my credit card debt in exchange for some pay deductions. My reasoning would be "to prevent financial a financial distress situation".  Thanks all!
