SISIP COLA RETRO (Assorted Topics)

Post by Trooper on Sun 03 Nov 2013, 19:05

Is there any info as to if MC is still looking into having the court decide in having the cola % applied to the net, or the gross, for each year ?

In correspondence with Miss Hunter from MC, she has stated "they" are looking into the cpi issue with sisip lawyers, hoping to come to an agreement out of court. I asked this question last week. This issue changes the outcome of the lawsuit retro payment drastically the longer back one goes. My retro from 1989...the 2% per year on gross income as opposed to net...the numbers are quite different. I guess we wait...

Ok Sapper thanks, just haven't heard anything in awhile, good to know that they are still working on it, and yes it could mean more money for us, if successful.

The Court indicates that the CPI motion on T-463-07 will be tentatively scheduled for March 7, 2014 at 10:30 (Atlantic) in Halifax (parties are to confirm the date prior to the hearing)

well junco SISIP from what I understand has been calculating CPI after deductions we think it should be before deductions so this is what they are trying to resolve. if it stays the same no change for us. if it changes we will end up getting another check nothing huge but something. your monthly cheque will increase as well and for the long term guys it may be a very noticeable one.

hope this helps

Thanks for the update K9, I was wondering when it was going to be heard. Also I am pleased that it will take place in 2014.

It was nothing difficult to find, now it is just another piece of the puzle needed to make it complete.

Anything on this today?

Good news for our RCMP members on coming to an agreement today,

approval still awaiting until June, and add another six months to that date, so by this time next year they should start being paid out before the next Federal election starts up.

If this means more beans for the bean-counters....bring it on. We already had cpi indexing in our retro but not enough? Is this the issue here?

Yes. The CPI was applied to the 'net' amount not the 'gross' amount.
