ELB question

Post by Slaket on Thu 11 Aug 2016, 09:41

Okay... Benefits as such.

SISIP LTD for PI...
VAC TPI
VAC PIA and PIA(S)
CPPD

Was on Rehab but my CM is taking me off as all that can be done has been done...and I guess I will be tossed out to pasture as the CM said basically my file will be closed..
Now this CM is a great person and I believe them when they say any problems down the road they will help...

Researching I see that in order to qualify for ELB one must be on Rehab..

Question is..

If for one reason or another SISIP says that's I no longer qualify and drop me...how hard is it to get back on  VAC Rehab so that I can apply and
qualify for ELB so that I can go back to (75 soon to be 90%) of my release salary??

Thanks
Slaket

You do not have to be on rehab currently you just have to have been on rehab before and be deemed TPI for ELB.

If your case manager is going to close your file because they said there is nothing else they can do for REHAB then you should request to be placed on TPI if you are not already on TPI and once placed on TPI you will have no problems in the future ENSURE YOU REQUEST TO BE PUT ON TPI ASAP

So being TPI trumps everything.
That's perfect and all I wanted to hear.

Thanks

Slaket you can also apply for Canadian Forces Income Support which is a tax free benefit of $1554 per month, but you must apply within 6 months of finishing the ReHab program.

Also, if you haven't already done so you can apply for the Permanent Impairment Allowance.

In order to apply for the CFIS  is says you must be on ELB and is income dependant. But while on SISIP LTD disability you can't be on ELB. Or that's the way I see ..
So I'm hoping my VAC TPI will look after me if I were to ever be dropped by SISIP.

Thanks

Hopefully, this will explain it better if you ever need to apply.

Cheers

Slacket, once you are deemed TPI, and placed on EELB, you are on it until age 65, except in extreme circumstances. But in the list of ELB deductions, it lists other "government sponsored LTD", which includes SISIP. So even though you are technically on ELB, your monthly SISIP payment zeroes out the ELB. But if at any time, your SISIP is cancelled, your ELB payment should kick in. That is why anyone who is on both, should get the difference between the 90% amount for ELB, and the 75% amount that they get from SISIP, until SISIP changes the policy

They are probably sending letters out to every ELB recipient, explaining the changes, along with a financial worksheet, showing the new amounts. At least now you know that they are aware that you are an ELB recipient, even if you're not currently getting any money.

Yes , they confirmed that via email. Not sure if I will be required to get a medical report done every two years for ELB when I am not receiving any money.
