I logged on yesterday at 1301 and when I was done, approx 1 min later, I got a message saying your info has been saved. So I tried again and got the same message so I got on the phone and found out I had gotten in but there was some sort of computer glitch so my daughter will not be getting her e-mail until next week.

Old Sailor I am going to assume that your son waited to long to respond to the email. Reading the fine print it's the first 535 applicants to respond that get the bursary. Not the person who submitted the email address for the student.

Robbie Royal did some research awhile back and sorta went around the process. He created an email address to use for his daughter as she would have been in class as well. This is a good idea and for the next round give it a try as it looks like ol' Robbie was successful.

As for the taxes you have to remember a student is in a really low tax bracket and it should not affect them a lot.

Dear Class Members,

The Veterans Bursary Program for 2013/2014 launched yesterday at 13:00 EST on a first-come, first-served basis and the maximum number of applicants for this year was quickly reached. Successful applicants now have 30 days to meet the requirements. Soon after the 30 day deadline, AUCC will re-open the application process to ensure any unused bursaries for this year are made available. We will communicate with you by e-mail and post information on the website about the exact number available and the launch time.

From what I understand in order to obtain the bursary you have to register for the bursary, meaning once you forward the applicants name, relationship and email an email is generated to your applicants email. The applicant has to enter the code they send with the email and log onto AUCC and register for the bursary,
this is the message I received once registered,
As you have already registered for the Veterans Bursary Program, log into your account using your AUCC ID and the password you have chosen when you started your application.
HOPE IT HELPS my buddy

Can any of you give me your honest answer.
1. I was on the site 10 min prior to the button going live to submit.
2. I submitted at exactly 10:00 PST.
3. I did not know if my submission was posted so I did the second time.
4. My son's name was on my profile. It also indicated that he has 30 days to submit.
5. My son receive an email at exactly 10:02 indicating
"You are receiving this email because you have been selected to apply for the Veteran Bursary Program.
6. He was in school all day, upon returning from school, he tried to fill in the form.
7. On top of his form when he tried to complete the required information he received the following
"The maximum bursary paid has been reached for this year."
8. I really don't think that 535 applications were accepted in the first minute, especially when he received an email confirming at 10:02 exactly 2 minutes later, I'm sure that the system would take about a minute to send that back.
9. Can anyone tell me what time you receive a confirmation back and was accepted.
Thank Youi

bursary fund update

Post by oldleftwinger on Wed 05 Feb 2014, 19:33

Navrat I believe that part of the bursary fund is taxable if you are not paying your costs to go to school
Meaning that if Veteran affairs is paying your school costs then the amount over $500 is taxable only.

I am sure that others can chime in here and get the correct answer out to everyone.
