Three members of the Royal Canadian Navy, all Medal of Bravery recipients, had their names added to the Wall of Valour at Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt, BC during a ceremony Monday. The addition of the names, on a uniquely Navy memorial, is for recognition of their courage, according to the RCN.

The three Medal of Bravery recipients include Chief Petty Officer 1st Class Robert DeProy, recognized for rescuing a fellow diver in Saanich Inlet, British Columbia on May 19, 2012; Leading Seaman Evan Beaton for rescuing a fellow diver in the Bedford Basin in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 19, 2013, and Petty Officer 1st class André Aubry for demonstrating bravery while fighting a major fire on board HMCS Protecteur on February 27, 2014.

The Wall of Valour is located below the Canadian Forces Base Esquimalt Wardroom at 1586 Esquimalt Road and was established to commemorate members of the Royal Canadian Navy who have been decorated for valour. There are 23 RCN recipients of the Medal of Bravery whose names are affixed to the Wall of Valour since the awards were created in 1972, the RCN noted in a news release.
