So just got of f phone with VAC and when I told her My claim is sitting at week 42 the response was and I quote thatís all, Donít expect your claim to be done anytime soon. When I asked about the 35-38 week period response was thatís what they tell you. I asked if it is only complex cases sitting at Feb 2017 and response was I can only tell you what we are being told. I kinda feel sorry for who answers VAC calls. Time to get a new Case Manager that will return my calls/emails. Outrageous

Sounds good. Thanks...sounds like mine will be awhile yet. Time this government stepped up this stuff.

Nemo I just heard that my reassessment is being actively worked on by someone and a decision will be within 1-2 weeks.
So it has been in Step 3 since Feb 14th, and it will be almost 18 weeks completed for decision from service standard date.
Just FYI for your timelines.

Nemo, how long have you been waiting? When did you apply.

I got all the paperwork to them mid Apr 2018. Got the standard reply of 16 weeks.

I spoke to VAC today, and was told they modified the wording.
Those reassessments that average 16 weeks also said before with the oldest complex claims from October 2017. Now it says with common claims as old as October 2017.
This is the same for the 1st time Disability applications except they state those are 34-39 weeks average with oldest claims from February 2017.

Nemo, If your CM doesn't return your calls ask VAC frontline staff to speak to the CM on duty who takes calls on the fly. Be persistent and don't let them dissuade you from speaking to someone.

Reassessment submitted Jan 2018- now on week 16 for a non complex claim.... I was told 16 weeks average with oldest complex case currently from October 2017. (Currently Step 3 since Feb 14th)
New application submitted Jan 2018- still on Step 2.. I was told 32-39 weeks and they're currently working on ones from February 2017 (oldest complex ones.)

I keep getting that same message except it says 34-38 weeks and that my claim is at adjudication level. Must be a copy and paste message that they send to everyone. My application is now sitting at 42 weeks and CM donít return calls or respond to emails.

Current DA Wait Times

Below is a response I received this morning after inquiring about a Dec 17 application for DA. I'm not sure how they can still pretend that their "normal" processing time is 16 weeks.... I thought I would post this to let everyone know.

We are currently experiencing a significant backlog in disability
applications resulting in an increase in processing time for
providing decisions on claims. On average, the current processing
time for a straightforward application is 34 to 39 weeks from
the date thta all required information has been received by the
Department. More complex claims and those that require additional
information may take longer. At this time it is too early to
tell when you should expect a deicision, but you will be notified
when the claim has been sent for adjudication and when a final
decision has been rendered. I apologize for any inconvenience.
