How many vets have been denied disability pensions for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes?

I was medically released in 2003. I applied for a disability pension for diabetes a year or two after that but I was denied. I presume they didn't feel that it was service connected. I didn't appeal it because like many of us i suffer from PTSD and thought it was not worth it or i had other stuff in my mind.( I was diagnosed with Type 2 in 1992. I wasn't released because of my diabetes.)
Now i am thinking of getting a lawyer because i have read many studies on the effect of vaccines and diabetes in the military due to the quantity of vaccinations taken.
I find it interesting that the American Department of Veteran Affairs recognizes service related diabetes but our VA does not.
I would like to know how many vets out there have diabetes and if they tried to get it service connected.
Thank you .
